Jakarta police arrest 317 suspects in motor vehicle theft crackdown

Jakarta police (Polda Metro Jaya) announced the arrest of 317 suspects linked to a motor vehicle theft (curanmor) ring, seizing 156 vehicles—including 15 cars and 141 motorcycles—after reviewing 141 police reports. The suspects were charged under Articles 477, 479 and 591 of the Indonesian Criminal Code and the case will be forwarded to the public prosecutor.

In Tangerang, police raided a rented house in Kampung Bugel, detaining five alleged thieves and confiscating six stolen motorcycles, knives, an air‑soft gun and tools used to modify vehicles. The operation began after a victim reported a stolen Honda Beat. Authorities continue to hunt other members of the network.
