Jakarta police arrest man for fatal hammer attack in Grogol boarding house

Police in Jakarta arrested a 28‑year‑old man, identified only as E, for the murder of his 52‑year‑old girlfriend, identified as M, at a boarding house on Jalan dr. Makaliwe I in Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta. The killing occurred after M saw WhatsApp messages on E’s phone from another woman, leading to a dispute. E seized a hammer and struck M in the head four times, causing fatal injuries, police said.

Investigators from the Resmob unit of the Metro Jaya Police traced E to his home in Cilandak, South Jakarta, where he resisted arrest before being subdued. He is now detained and charged under Article 458 of Indonesia’s 2023 murder law, which carries a maximum sentence of 15 years. Officer Dally Gumay, who led the investigation, described the scene: “Pelaku memukul korban di bagian kepala sebanyak empat kali hingga korban tewas di tempat.”
