Jakarta police investigate suspicious activity at Gelora Bung Karno
Police in Jakarta are investigating a viral video showing two men performing suspicious activities under a parked vehicle at the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) area. The footage, which surfaced around August 18, shows one individual entering the underside of a car, allegedly to check the vehicle's chassis number.
Authorities from Polda Metro Jaya and Polres Metro Jakarta Pusat are currently analyzing the footage to determine if any criminal acts occurred. Preliminary investigations suggest the men may be debt collectors, often referred to locally as 'mata elang' (hawk eyes), searching for vehicles with payment arrears.
Police officials have urged the public to remain vigilant and avoid direct confrontation with suspicious individuals. Instead, citizens are encouraged to document such activities and report them to the authorities via the 110 emergency service or local police stations.
