Jakarta Launches Mobile Animal Clinic to Advance City’s Pet‑Friendly Goal

Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo and DPRD member Hardiyanto Kenneth inaugurated a mobile animal‑clinic fleet at the Mustika Integrated Child‑Friendly Public Space (RPTRA) in Kramat Jati, East Jakarta. The service, consisting of five fully equipped vans, will rotate among Jakarta’s five administrative districts, offering examinations, vaccinations, minor surgeries and ultrasound for pets.

Kenneth said the initiative marks progress toward Jakarta’s ambition to become a pet‑friendly city and called for subsidies for low‑income owners and the eventual establishment of permanent animal‑health centers. The provincial government has set a target to sterilise 23,000 animals in 2026, aiming to sustain the capital’s rabies‑free status.

The clinics will operate six days a week, with plans to expand funding schemes for Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) holders and other social‑aid recipients.
