Jakarta taxi struck by KRL Commuter Line train in Tanah Abang

A taxi was struck by a KRL Commuter Line train on Monday night, August 24, 2026, at a railway crossing on Jalan KH Mas Mansyur in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta. The collision involved KRL train number 5744, traveling from Tanah Abang Station toward Karet Bivak Station.

The impact caused severe damage to the rear of the taxi and shattered its windows. Two female passengers sustained injuries to their limbs and were evacuated to RSAL Mintohardjo hospital for medical treatment. No fatalities were reported.

The incident caused delays for the Angke-Manggarai route. KAI Commuter officials reported that the vehicle was evacuated and the train set was inspected to ensure safety. While service on the Cikarang line has returned to normal, authorities worked to clear the resulting passenger congestion. Police are currently investigating the cause of the accident.
