Jakarta to face hotter, humid conditions through September 2026

Indonesia's meteorological agency BMKG forecast that Jakarta will be sunny to partly cloudy on Friday, with maximum temperatures reaching 34 °C, morning averages of 26‑31 °C and evening highs of 30‑33 °C. Wind speeds are expected at 6‑10 km/h, rising to 18 km/h in the Thousand Islands.

BMKG also warned that the capital will experience increasingly hot and dry weather until the end of September 2026. Deputy Climate Specialist Ardhasena Sopahelu explained that the heat is driven by the sun’s culmination directly over Java, coinciding with the peak of the dry season and an El Niño event that will lower humidity. The prolonged drought may reduce rain, worsen air quality from accumulated pollutants, and prompt health advisories for residents to stay hydrated and monitor official updates.
