Jakarta unveils new KRL station, pedestrian bridge and road upgrades for its 499th anniversary

Jakarta's provincial government marked the city's 499th anniversary on 22 June 2026 by inaugurating a suite of transport and infrastructure projects. The rollout includes the activation of a KRL commuter‑rail station at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), a pedestrian crossing bridge (JPO) linking JIS to the Ancol recreation area, and a new pedestrian deck at Dukuh Atas – popularly called the “donut bridge.”

The integrated JIS–Ancol corridor is intended to improve access to the stadium and reduce reliance on private cars during large‑scale events. Governor Pramono Anung said the new links will allow visitors to reach JIS by train and walk to Ancol, easing traffic congestion. Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi noted that the JIS station began serving passengers on the inauguration day and will be expanded into a permanent facility.

The projects were delivered through a collaboration of the DKI Jakarta administration, PT Jakarta Propertindo, various transport operators and PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk, forming part of a broader effort to connect sports, tourism and daily commuting across northern Jakarta.
