Jake Hager undergoes emergency eye surgery after Power Slap injury

Former WWE and AEW wrestler Jake Hager underwent emergency eye surgery following a severe injury sustained during a Power Slap event in Lubbock, Texas, on September 17, 2026. During his bout against Johnny Magna, Hager suffered a blow that resulted in significant bleeding from his eye and face, leading to a technical knockout (TKO) loss.

UFC and Power Slap President Dana White described the incident as one of the “worst injuries” he has witnessed in the history of his combat sports promotions. White noted that the injury appeared to involve a ruptured tear duct and stated that the organization would ensure Hager received necessary medical care. Due to the graphic nature of the injury, White instructed the broadcast team not to show a replay of the moment.

Hager’s partner, Patricia Blackburn, confirmed that he is currently recovering from the emergency procedure. While the specific medical details of his condition are being kept private, the incident has drawn significant attention to the physical risks associated with the slap-fighting competition.
