Jake Hager undergoes emergency eye surgery after Power Slap injury

Former WWE and AEW star Jake Hager underwent emergency eye surgery following a serious injury sustained during a Power Slap match against Johnny Magna. The injury, which involved blood and fluid leaking from the eye, was described by Dana White as one of the most severe he has witnessed in combat sports. Hager, 44, is scheduled to be evaluated by a specialist in Miami to determine his long-term prognosis.

In response to the incident, former WWE wrestler Val Venis criticized Power Slap on social media, calling the concept “the stupidest game in the world” and labeling it a dangerous activity rather than a sport. Venis argued that participants are putting themselves at unnecessary risk without the ability to defend themselves. He urged Hager to abandon the competition, joining other wrestling figures like Jim Cornette who have criticized the organization for the inherent risks of the format.
