Jalapeño recalls expand at H-E-B and Costco due to Salmonella concerns

Major retailers in the southern United States are conducting large-scale recalls of products containing jalapeños due to potential Salmonella contamination linked to a multistate investigation.

H-E-B has initiated a voluntary recall of more than 35 products, including various pico de gallo varieties, stuffed mushrooms, and diced jalapeños. These products were sold in Texas and Louisiana between July 3 and August 5. The recall is reportedly linked to jalapeños imported from Sinaloa, Mexico.

Simultaneously, Costco Business Centers in Texas have recalled five-pound bags of fresh jalapeños. The recall, initiated by Dairyland Produce LLC (operating as Hardie's Fresh Foods), affects specific lot codes sold at locations in Stafford and Dallas. These bulk bags are primarily distributed to restaurants, caterers, and food trucks.

While the FDA is monitoring the situation, there have been no confirmed reports of illnesses directly tied to these specific recent retail recalls.
