Jalisco government proceeds with police housing project amid local concerns

The Jalisco state government has confirmed that the public housing project for police officers in Mirador de San Isidro will proceed, despite concerns raised by local residents. Alberto Esquer, the Chief of Staff, stated that the government aims to provide dignified and accessible housing for security personnel and their families.

To address community concerns regarding flooding, water availability, and public spaces, the government plans to implement mitigation works. These measures may include infrastructure adjustments for water management and the construction of a linear park for local use. Engineering and hydrological studies are currently underway to ensure the project's viability.

In the nearby Parques del Centinela neighborhood, residents have expressed opposition to a high-density real estate development called ‘Natura Norte,’ managed by Grupo Inmobiliario EGC. Neighbors warn that the construction of four towers containing approximately 1,300 apartments could overwhelm public services, such as electricity and water provided by SIAPA, and exacerbate the risk of flooding and sinkholes due to the alteration of natural water channels.
