Jalisco hosts diverse cultural, academic, and craft exhibitions

The state of Jalisco is hosting a diverse series of cultural, academic, and artistic events throughout August.

In the performing arts, the 29th State Theater Showcase (MET) will feature 19 productions across Guadalajara, Lagos de Moreno, and Puerto Vallarta, highlighting themes such as migration and memory. Musically, Yolihuani Curiel will present ‘Materia Viva’ at the reopening of the Centro Cultural Bretón, showcasing an evolution from rock and folk to cinematic and traditional sounds.

Academic and visual arts initiatives include the University of Guadalajara’s ‘Expo Posgrados’ at MUSA, which aims to promote over 315 graduate programs and university gratuity. Additionally, artist Alejandra Ruíz is leading a collaborative residency at MUSA titled ‘La ciudad de las damas,’ focused on women's structural inequalities.

In the realm of craftsmanship, the 67th National Exhibition of Craft, Art, and Design (ENART) will take place in Tlaquepaque, featuring 180 companies from 19 states showcasing traditional techniques in ceramics, wood, and textiles.
