Mexico cultural events season

Overview

In July 2026, Mexico announced a series of cultural programs across the country. The fifth edition of the Festival Cultural de Malinalco was scheduled for mid‑October, featuring music, theatre, dance and visual arts in historic venues, while the sixth Tammlé Dance Competition was set for late July in Guadalajara, focusing on emerging dancers and scholarships.

Later in August, additional performances were publicised, including the “Circo Ritmo, Color y Diversión” circus season in San Miguel (July 23 – August 23) and a new‑format Circo Atayde production in Guadalajara on 16 August. Both circus events highlighted a mix of national and international talent, aiming to attract families and broader audiences. The Circo Atayde production at Teatro Diana specifically features international performers, including a Ukrainian Guinness‑record‑holding juggler, a Russian aerial artist, and a Cuban duo.

In Jalisco, August also features a diverse range of cultural, academic, and craft exhibitions. The 29th State Theater Showcase (MET) is presenting 19 productions across Guadalajara, Lagos de Moreno, and Puerto Vallarta. Musical performances include Yolihuani Curiel at the Centro Cultural Bretón, while academic and visual arts initiatives are hosted at MUSA, including the University of Guadalajara’s ‘Expo Posgrados’ and Alejandra Ruíz’s residency, ‘La ciudad de las damas.’ Additionally, the 67th National Exhibition of Craft, Art, and Design (ENART) in Tlaquepaque is showcasing 180 companies from 19 states.

Together, these announcements illustrate an ongoing push by Mexican cultural authorities and local organizers to promote diverse artistic offerings—ranging from traditional festivals and dance contests to modern circus productions, academic exhibitions, and craftsmanship—throughout the summer and into the fall of 2026.
