Jalisco municipalities intensify dengue prevention with fogging chemicals and cleanup campaign
The municipal government of Zapotlán el Grande in Jalisco delivered ten 10‑liter containers of chemical fogging agents to the regional health authority to fumigate schools and other high‑risk areas as the rainy season begins. Mayor Magali Casillas Contreras emphasized that the donation follows previous contributions made during a severe dengue outbreak and aims to protect the population, noting that no positive dengue cases have been reported in the municipality to date.
Meanwhile, the government of Ixtlahuacán de los Membrillos announced a June‑July 2026 "descacharrización" campaign to collect and remove discarded items such as tires, containers, and other objects that can hold water and serve as breeding sites for the Aedes aegypti mosquito. The initiative will visit neighborhoods across the municipality, urging residents to gather and hand over these items to prevent the spread of dengue, Zika and chikungunya.
