Jalisco passes autism care law, launches statewide network of specialized centers

The Congress of Jalisco unanimously approved the "Law for the Attention, Protection and Inclusion of People in the Autism Spectrum," a pioneering state measure that creates a statutory framework for autism and intellectual disability services. The legislation establishes a State Registry of Persons with Autism and a Special Fund to finance the expansion and operation of a network of Regional Autism and Intellectual Disability Centers.

Governor Pablo Lemus Navarro announced that the existing network – two centers in Zapopan, the CADI in Guadalajara, the Teletón Jalisco center and the regional center in Tepatitlán – will be extended with a new center in Puerto Vallarta serving the coastal region. Additional centers are planned for Ciudad Guzmán and Lagos de Moreno by 2027. An Intersectoral Commission will coordinate health, education, justice and social‑assistance actions, ensuring resources and programs reach families across the state.
