Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has launched a ‘super train march’ from Karachi to Islamabad to demand the abolition of the Petroleum Development Levy (PDL). Led by party chief Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, the march aims to protest the economic burden on the middle and lower classes. Rehman warned that if the government does not provide relief, the protests could escalate into a movement to oust the current administration.

In response to the growing unrest, authorities have heavily fortified Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Security measures include the deployment of nearly 1,000 cargo containers at major intersections and sensitive areas like the Red Zone. Islamabad Police have also cancelled all non-emergency leave for personnel until October 5.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi issued a warning to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), stating that any attempt to storm the capital would face severe consequences and that the government would enforce Islamabad High Court orders. Naqvi emphasized that the government would not allow the country to be shut down for weeks as seen in previous protests.
