Jamaica tourism reaches 2.34 million arrivals and $2.5 billion in earnings
Jamaica recorded 2.34 million visitor arrivals through August 31, 2026, generating USD $2.5 billion in earnings. This growth comes despite the country operating at approximately 70 percent of its previous hotel room capacity following Hurricane Melissa in October 2025.
Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett noted that the strong performance reflects robust demand and the resilience of the sector. The remaining 30 percent of hotel inventory is expected to return to the market by the end of 2026 or in the first quarter of 2027 as resorts undergo refurbishment. Significant investments are underway, including a $200 million investment by Sandals across three resorts.
To support continued growth, the government is pursuing a ‘Tourism 3.0’ strategy focused on increasing air connectivity and investment. Airlines such as Air Canada, Porter Airlines, and Southwest Airlines are expanding or maintaining services to the island to meet traveler demand.
