Ja’Marr Chase suffers concussion in Bengals loss to Jaguars
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase suffered a concussion during a Week 4 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars, resulting in a 22-17 loss for the Bengals. The injury occurred in the second quarter after Chase was subjected to a facemask penalty by cornerback Jarrian Jones and a subsequent hit by linebacker Ventrell Miller. Chase was evaluated in the medical tent before being moved to the locker room and was subsequently ruled out for the remainder of the game.
In addition to Chase, teammate Tee Higgins also sustained an injury, leaving the game late in the fourth quarter with a groin ailment. Head coach Zac Taylor described Higgins as “day-to-day,” while Chase remains in concussion protocol and is expected to be sidelined for much of the week. The loss brings the Bengals to a .500 record following a 2-0 start to the season.
Despite the injuries to their primary receiving corps, quarterback Joe Burrow recorded 428 passing yards. Other players, including Dohnte Meyers and Chase Brown, contributed to the passing game during Chase's absence. The Bengals are scheduled to play the Miami Dolphins next Sunday.
