Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins injury updates

Overview

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase received significant praise following a Week 2 victory against the Houston Texans, where he recorded seven receptions for 75 yards and two touchdowns. Former NFL MVP Adrian Peterson described one of Chase’s touchdown catches as “probably the best catch I’ve ever seen in my life.”

During a subsequent 22-17 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Bengals’ receiving corps suffered further setbacks. Chase was ruled out during the first half due to a concussion and required further evaluation. The injury occurred in the second quarter following a facemask penalty by cornerback Jarrian Jones and a subsequent hit by linebacker Ventrell Miller. Chase was evaluated in the medical tent before being moved to the locker room; he remains in concussion protocol and is expected to be sidelined for much of the week.

Additionally, wide receiver Tee Higgins sustained an adductor injury, described as a groin strain, late in the game. While earlier reports suggested the injury could result in Higgins missing two to three weeks, head coach Zac Taylor has since described Higgins as “day-to-day.”

Despite these absences, quarterback Joe Burrow recorded 428 passing yards, with contributions from Dohnte Meyers and Chase Brown. The loss brings the Bengals to a .500 record. The team is scheduled to play the Miami Dolphins next Sunday.
