Jambi Police Officials Arrested in Multi‑Billion Rupiah Recruitment Scam

Two police officers from the Human Resources Bureau of the Jambi Regional Police (Polda Jambi) have been detained on suspicion of running a fraudulent recruitment scheme for the 2026 Bintara Polri (police non‑commissioned officer) selection. The officers, identified as Briptu MD and Bripda Y, allegedly promised candidates that they would secure graduation in exchange for large cash payments.

The investigation, led by the Police Professional and Security Division (Bidpropam) and the Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimum), recorded at least 12 victims – a mix of civilians and relatives of police personnel – with reported losses totalling roughly Rp7.81 billion (several hundred million US dollars). Both suspects are undergoing internal ethical review and face criminal prosecution. Police authorities have warned the public against paying for any unofficial guarantee of police recruitment and urged additional victims to come forward.
