James Acaster reveals filming secrets from The Celebrity Traitors

Comedian James Acaster has revealed that producers of the BBC reality series ‘The Celebrity Traitors’ use a specific song to set the mood during banishment ceremonies. According to Acaster, the production plays an a cappella version of ‘The Hanging Tree’ from ‘The Hunger Games’ every time contestants approach the roundtable for a vote.

Acaster noted that the music is played without prior announcement, which can blindside contestants. He described the song as the only music heard throughout the filming process, stating it remained constantly in the participants' heads.

Former contestants from the civilian version of the series, including Tom Elderfield and Reece Ward, corroborated these claims. Elderfield remarked that the song now causes him “trauma,” while Ward confirmed the practice catches players off guard every time.
