James Gunn develops new DCU projects including Man of Tomorrow

James Gunn is developing several upcoming projects for the DC Universe (DCU), including the film ‘Man of Tomorrow’ and the series ‘The People vs. Gorilla Grodd’.

In ‘Man of Tomorrow’, production has wrapped on a story that features a nascent version of the Justice League. Confirmed characters include Guy Gardner, Blue Beetle, Hawkgirl, Supergirl, Mister Terrific, and Maxwell Lord. Gunn has noted that his portrayal of Maxwell Lord is inspired by the “deeply flawed, but hardly malevolent” version of the character from original comic iterations rather than a purely villainous interpretation.

The upcoming series ‘The People vs. Gorilla Grodd’ is expected to have a comedic tone. Reports suggest the production includes characters such as Matter-Eater Lad, and potentially Flash villains Golden Glider and Murmur. Set details indicate the series may involve themes of legal proceedings and public protest regarding the character Grodd.
