James Hardie introduces fermacell® digital floor planning tool

James Hardie has introduced a digital floor planner for fermacell® products to assist architects, planners, and installers in determining optimal floor constructions. The tool systematically collects project-specific requirements—such as building use, desired floor coverings, sound insulation, fire protection, moisture protection, and substrate types—to generate customized solution proposals. It also integrates material calculations, documentation, and information on suppliers.

In the context of residential construction and renovation, dry screed systems using gypsum fiber boards are highlighted as an efficient alternative to conventional methods. Unlike traditional screeds that require several weeks to dry, dry screed elements can be walked on within 24 hours, significantly accelerating construction timelines. These systems help prevent moisture issues in wooden structures, reduce the risk of cracking, and can be configured to include thermal insulation or underfloor heating to improve energy efficiency and living comfort.
