Recent polling shows Democratic state Rep. James Talarico ahead of Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton in the Texas U.S. Senate race. The Texas Pulse survey gave Talarico 47% support versus Paxton's 43%, while a YouGov/254 Labs poll recorded a 48% to 45% lead. Both candidates have shifted campaign focus to the economy. Talarico unveiled a "New American Dream" plan that proposes universal child care, a dividend from taxing artificial intelligence, medical‑debt forgiveness, expanded public higher‑vocational education and a crackdown on tax fraud. Paxton promoted a "Protecting the Texas Promise" agenda featuring tax cuts to subsidise home down‑payments, health‑care premiums, gym memberships and GLP‑1 medication subsidies. Each also supports making the child‑tax credit permanent. Talarico has raised more than $68 million, keeping the race tight and positioning it as a pivotal contest for Senate control in the November midterms.
