James Talarico Texas Senate Campaign Gains Momentum
Texas Democratic Senate nominee James Talarico launched his "Frontera Tour" with a town‑hall in El Paso, beginning a 750‑mile bus tour of border communities. He pledged an anti‑corruption agenda that would ban corporate and secret political action committees, impose term limits and pursue reforms to lower the cost of groceries, gas, utilities and health care.
The campaign announced a record fundraising haul of more than $30 million in the second quarter, bringing its total to over $70 million since the bid was announced in September. Opponent Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton raised $9 million in the same period, his biggest quarter for a non‑incumbent GOP Senate candidate. Polls show the race essentially tied, with Talarico leading Hispanic voters and independents providing the edge needed to challenge the 30‑year Republican hold on the Texas Senate seat.
Talarico’s tour aims to connect with voters who feel ignored by both parties, while Paxton, who survived a 2023 impeachment and a 2015 fraud indictment, seeks to retain the seat for the GOP.
