James Webb Telescope discovers water near Sagittarius A* black hole

The James Webb Space Telescope and Hubble have provided significant astronomical observations regarding the center of the Milky Way and the early universe. NASA and ESA announced the discovery of water vapor and oxygen-rich dust near the supermassive black hole Sagittarius A*. This observation focused on the gas and dust shell expelled by the giant star IRS 3, located approximately 0.55 light-years from the black hole.

The discovery challenges existing theoretical models by demonstrating that complex molecules and stellar dust can remain resilient against the intense ultraviolet radiation and tidal forces produced by a black hole.

Additionally, research into galaxies dating back over 13 billion years indicates that early galaxies dispersed chemical elements such as carbon, oxygen, and silicon into intergalactic space much earlier than previously expected.
