Jammu and Kashmir ITI clusters receive ₹475 crore boost

Jammu and Kashmir has received approval for two major Industrial Training Institute (ITI) clusters under the central government’s PM-SETU scheme. The Srinagar cluster will receive ₹235 crore in investment through a partnership with Inderdeep Infra India Limited, while the Jammu cluster has been approved for ₹240 crore with Eagle Infra India Limited as the anchor industry partner. Both clusters will focus on developing skills related to infrastructure and construction.

The PM-SETU programme, which has a total outlay of ₹60,000 crore, aims to upgrade 1,000 government ITIs across India using a hub-and-spoke model. In its first year of implementation, the scheme has identified 850 ITIs, consisting of 172 hub ITIs and 678 spoke ITIs. To date, 14 clusters nationwide have received approval for Strategic Investment Plans totaling ₹3,446 crore.

The initiative emphasizes industry-led governance through Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) and anchor partners to assist in curriculum design and training delivery. The programme also introduces new-age courses covering emerging technologies to align vocational education with modern workforce requirements.
