Jammu and Kashmir leaders clash over Farooq Abdullah's Pakistan remarks

Political tensions have escalated in Jammu and Kashmir following controversial remarks by National Conference President Farooq Abdullah. During a meeting in Baramulla, Abdullah suggested that Pakistan's continuous efforts to raise the Kashmir issue in international forums provide a level of security to the region. He stated that the international attention regarding the undecided status of Kashmir serves as a safeguard for the people.

These comments triggered widespread protests and condemnation from various political groups and organizations, including the BJP, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), and Rashtriya Bajrang Dal. BJP leaders, including Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma, demanded a public apology to the nation, with some suggesting Abdullah should relocate to Pakistan if he does not retract his statements.

Former Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad also weighed in, expressing disagreement with Abdullah. While stating he respects Abdullah, Azad characterized Pakistan as an enemy to both India and the people of Jammu and Kashmir, noting that residents in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir are currently protesting for their rights.
