Jammu and Kashmir ramps up anti‑narcotics drive, seizes 1,431 kg of drugs and attaches assets

Over a 100‑day period the Jammu and Kashmir administration, led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, reported registering 2,292 NDPS cases and arresting 2,581 individuals. Security agencies seized more than 1,431 kg of narcotics, including heroin, and attached property worth roughly ₹188.9 crore. The crackdown also targeted financial and regulatory channels, with 264 medical stores cited, and the cancellation of hundreds of driving licences, vehicle registrations and passports.

In parallel, the Jammu and Kashmir Police dismissed a constable, Aftab Ahmed, after he was caught with heroin during a routine check in Kathua district. The dismissal follows a departmental inquiry and reflects a broader zero‑tolerance policy, which has already seen several police personnel removed for alleged involvement in the drug‑mafia network.
