Jammu and Kashmir security heightened for Independence Day
Security forces have intensified measures across Jammu and Kashmir in preparation for Independence Day celebrations. Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, V K Birdi, chaired a high-level meeting with various agencies, including the BSF, CRPF, and CID, to review arrangements for the upcoming festivities.
In Srinagar, security has been bolstered around Bakshi Stadium, the site of the main Independence Day function. Authorities have directed increased patrolling, area domination, and the strengthening of checkpoints, particularly during night hours and at vulnerable entry and exit routes.
Across the Kashmir Valley and Jammu region, security personnel are conducting increased frisking, vehicle checks, and surveillance. Heightened vigilance is being maintained in sensitive areas, including Baramulla, Kupwara, and locations near the Line of Control and the International Border. Additional monitoring is also in place along the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway to ensure peaceful celebrations.
