Jammu experiences flash flooding and crop damage from heavy rain

Unexpected heavy rainfall has triggered flash flooding in the Bohri and Anand Nagar areas of Jammu, India. The downpour, which occurred on the first day of Navratri, caused water to enter homes and waterlog roads, disrupting daily life. Jammu West MLA Arvind Gupta noted that the rainfall was unexpected as the monsoon season had nearly ended, and the flooding caused extensive damage within two hours. No casualties have been reported.

In the Bandipora district, a sudden hailstorm accompanied by rain and gusty winds has damaged standing crops, causing significant concern for local farmers. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued weather alerts for several districts, including Kupwara, Baramulla, Anantnag, and Rajouri, warning of potential thunderstorms and gusty winds.
