Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh Bolster Workplace Harassment Controls

The Directorate of Economics and Statistics in Jammu and Kashmir reconstituted its Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) under Order No. 96‑DES of 2026, appointing Ashu Gupta as chair and naming six members to oversee complaints of sexual harassment at the department and submit monthly reports.

The Himachal Pradesh High Court’s ICC held an awareness programme for its women staff, covering the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, the Vishaka Guidelines and the She‑Box online complaint portal. Senior Advocate Sunita Sharma and activist Sumitra Chandel explained the law’s provisions and the role of the ICC in handling complaints.
