Jammu & Kashmir Police Boost Security for 2026 Amarnath Yatra

Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat chaired a comprehensive security review for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 in Jammu & Kashmir. Senior officers from the police, railways, traffic, and intelligence agencies attended and were instructed to maintain round‑the‑clock security domination of pilgrimage routes, railway tracks, and vulnerable locations. The DGP ordered enhanced surveillance, regular area‑domination exercises, intensified CASOs, continuous patrolling, daily anti‑sabotage checks, and deployment of Quick Response Teams at strategic points.

He emphasized the use of modern technologies such as CCTV networks and RFID‑based tracking for pilgrims and authorized vehicles, and called for wide publicity of cut‑off timings. Coordination with civil administration, disaster‑management planning, and contingency measures for fire, weather, and other emergencies were also mandated. The meeting reviewed security preparations for upcoming events, including Muharram observances and the annual Mela Kheer Bhawani, urging effective crowd‑management and inter‑agency cooperation to ensure a safe and peaceful conduct of all events.
