Jammu Pilgrimage Season Persists: Amarnath Yatra Secure, Vaishno Devi Landslide Minimal Impact

A seventh convoy of pilgrims set out from the Jammu base camp for the Amarnath Yatra on July 8, travelling under heightened security arrangements. Pilgrims praised the extensive deployment of security forces and described the journey as safe, crediting the government and the Prime Minister for the effective measures.

Later the same day, heavy rain triggered a landslide on the Trikuta hills along the Vaishno Devi route. The slide temporarily halted the battery‑car service, but authorities quickly dispatched personnel and machinery to clear debris. Pilgrims continued to use the traditional footpath, and the shrine’s visitation proceeded without major disruption.

Both incidents highlight the ongoing pilgrimage season in Jammu, with authorities managing safety and transport challenges while ensuring the flow of devotees to two of India’s most sacred sites.
