Jamshedpur FC to Exit Indian Super League as Tata Steel Guarantees Player Contracts

Jamshedpur FC announced it will withdraw from the Indian Super League after the 2026‑27 season, ending a nine‑year stint in the top flight. The decision has sparked a strong reaction from fans, who gathered at the Birsa Munda Stadium in Ranchi and sent a heartfelt letter to club chairperson D. B. Sundara Ramam urging the Tata‑owned club to reconsider.

Tata Steel, the club’s owner, said it will honour all existing player contracts and will assist footballers in finding new clubs. Vice‑president Sundara Raman explained that if a player is not picked up elsewhere, the company will fulfil its contractual commitments. The corporation also indicated that its focus will shift to grassroots football development and youth programmes, while staff and coaches will continue their roles.
