Jan Böhmermann ends 'ZDF Magazin Royale' and cancels 2027 tour
Satirist Jan Böhmermann has clarified that the decision to end his long-running ZDF show, 'ZDF Magazin Royale', was entirely his own. Speaking on the 'Fest & Flauschig' podcast, he noted that the decision surprised ZDF management, including Director Dr. Norbert Himmler, who reportedly reacted with emotion to the news.
Böhmermann explained that while the show is still enjoyable, he wishes to pursue new creative concepts. The final episode of the program is expected to air on December 18. ZDF has indicated they are currently in discussions with Böhmermann regarding a potential new show concept.
Following the announcement of the show's conclusion, the planned 2027 tour featuring 'Jan Böhmermann & Das Rundfunk Tanzorchester Ehrenfeld' has been cancelled. The tour was set to include stops in several German cities, including Frankfurt, Munich, Leipzig, Berlin, Hamburg, Bremen, Oberhausen, Stuttgart, Hannover, and Cologne. Ticket holders are being advised to seek refunds through their respective ticket providers.
