Janez Janša outlines education reforms and economic priorities

Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša addressed several critical national issues during the October session of the State Assembly and at the Summit of the Slovenian Economy.

Regarding education, Janša emphasized the need for a fundamental reform to transition toward a lifelong learning model. He argued that the current system is falling behind international standards due to regulations and norms rather than a lack of staff. He warned that failing to adapt to technological advancements like AI would leave the country unprepared within 15 years.

On economic matters, Janša and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia (GZS) called for greater stability and predictability. Janša proposed three key pillars for prosperity: stable tax policy, reduced bureaucracy, and a change to the electoral system to ensure political stability. He specifically suggested a 'tax anchor' to limit the percentage of GDP taken from citizens and businesses.

Business leaders, represented by GZS President Tibor Šimonka, urged the government to create a more competitive environment to support productivity and long-term funding for public services like education and healthcare.
