Slovenian government economic and legislative priorities

Following their first 100 days in office, the Slovenian government and the Ministry of Economy, Labour and Sport have outlined several strategic priorities and legislative actions.

Minister of Economy Anže Logar identified goals to improve economic competitiveness, reduce administrative burdens, and support innovation. He noted challenges regarding the public financial situation and delays in implementing European Union directives, aiming to resolve these issues to avoid potential lawsuits from the European Commission. Proposed legislative changes include a new Companies Act and reforms to scholarship regulations to minimize bureaucracy.

Broadly, the government is focusing on infrastructure, energy, and economic stability. To mitigate rising costs, an intervention law is being prepared to provide aid to the agriculture, forestry, and road carrier sectors. Fiscal measures include a budget rebalance intended to protect social benefits, pensions, and salaries while aiming to reduce public debt to below 65 percent of GDP. Additionally, the administration has accelerated motorway renovations and approved the temporary EU homologation of the FSD driver assistance system.
