Japan announces 2026 influenza and COVID-19 vaccination schedules
Various Japanese medical institutions and municipalities have announced schedules for the 2026 influenza and COVID-19 vaccination season.
Toyosan General Hospital will begin vaccinations starting October 1, 2026. The schedule varies by age group, with specific time slots designated for elderly residents receiving public subsidies and general patients. Notably, the hospital will not provide COVID-19 vaccinations for children (middle school students and younger), though influenza vaccinations remain available for this group, including nasal vaccine options.
In Bibai Town, vaccination programs for the elderly and high-risk individuals are also scheduled. Influenza vaccinations run from October 1, 2026, to January 31, 2027, while COVID-19 vaccinations extend through March 31, 2027. The town provides fee exemptions for residents in specific tax or welfare categories, provided they apply through the health center in advance.
