Japan Digital Agency implements AI agent for government platform

Japan's Digital Agency has integrated an artificial intelligence agent into its ‘Gennai’ generative AI platform, making it available to approximately 180,000 government employees. This update allows the AI to autonomously perform multiple tasks simultaneously from a single instruction, such as preparing, summarizing, and sharing meeting minutes.

The platform includes roughly 40 applications designed to assist with document preparation, translation, researching laws, and transcribing audio. Digital transformation minister Toshiharu Furukawa stated that the initiative aims to save labor and improve work quality by managing complex, document-heavy tasks.

Additionally, the agency plans to launch the ‘Gennai Library,’ a system allowing staff to share specialized expertise and institutional knowledge across various ministries and agencies.
