Japan Football Association announces youth national team updates

The Japan Football Association (JFA) has announced several developments regarding its youth national teams. For the upcoming International Youth Football in Niigata, manager Takashi Yamahashi has selected a 19-member roster for the U-17 Japan national team. This squad is described as being close to a B-team, as many core players from the AFC U-17 Asian Cup winning side are scheduled for overseas tours between September and October.

Additionally, the JFA has appointed Yusuke Miura, the JFA Youth Development Sub-director, as the manager for the U-15 Japan national team. The team will participate in the inaugural FIFA U-15 World Cup & Festival in Azerbaijan, scheduled for October 22–31. This new FIFA tournament is expected to feature nearly 200 participating nations and will utilize an 8-a-side format on smaller pitches. Despite the scale of participation, details regarding the tournament format and schedule remain unconfirmed by FIFA, and staff limitations have been noted for participating nations.
