Japan highways face closures due to accidents and heavy rain

Multiple highway sections in Japan are experiencing closures due to accidents and severe weather.

On the Hokuriku Expressway, traffic was halted between the Kinomoto Interchange and the Tsuruga Junction following a multi-vehicle accident in Nagahama City, Shiga Prefecture.

Separately, heavy rainfall has impacted the Tohoku Expressway, causing a closure of both directions between the Kosaka Interchange and the Ikari-gaseki Interchange in Aomori Prefecture. East Nippon Expressway Company has stated that there is currently no timeline for when the road will reopen.
