Japan hosts major outdoor food festivals in Nagaoka and Fukuoka
The 2026 Nagaoka Rice Hundred Bales Festival took place on May 23‑24 at the National Echigo Hills Park in Niigata Prefecture. The two‑day event combined live performances by local and national artists, a fireworks display, a free‑entry food and kids area, and a simultaneous "Rose Festival" featuring around 800 rose varieties. Mayor Isoda of Nagaoka highlighted the historical link to the town’s post‑Boshin‑War rice bounty and thanked visitors for supporting the community.
On June 6‑7, Gi‑FACTORY staged its first combined "All Meat Festival" and "Mayo Fest" in Fukuoka’s Maizuru Park San‑no‑Maru plaza. Approximately 70 vendors offered more than 200 menu items, ranging from traditional meat dishes to mayonnaise‑focused creations. The event included free stage shows, fire performances, a children’s carnival, wine tastings and a charity drive for local kids’ cafeterias. Both festivals emphasized family‑friendly entertainment and local culinary culture.
