Japan hosts summer street festivals in Matsuyama and Okegawa
From July 18‑20, the city of Matsuyama in Ehime Prefecture will hold the "Happiness Joy marche de rue" street fair along the West Village JOYPRO/Toys "R" aisle. The free‑entry event features food trucks, handmade goods, pet‑friendly areas, workshops and a succulent plant market.
On July 15‑16, Okegawa in Saitama Prefecture will stage its annual Gion Festival along the historic Nakasendo road and the Okegawa Station plaza. The two‑day celebration includes child shrine floats, traditional music, processions of five neighborhood shrines, and street‑wide pedestrian zones with traffic restrictions and free parking.
Both festivals aim to draw local families and tourists, offering cultural performances, market stalls and community activities throughout the weekend.
