Japan-LAC Business Forum attracts Latin American investment efforts

Officials from Argentina and Colombia participated in the Japan-LAC Business Forum in Tokyo to attract investment, technology, and new market opportunities. The forum, themed ‘Mobilizing investment and generating impact for Latin America and the Caribbean’, brought together approximately 1,000 participants and 400 companies from 24 countries.

Argentina's Deputy Minister of Economy, José Luis Daza, presented the results of the government's reform plan and discussed short- and medium-term perspectives. Daza engaged with Japanese authorities and executives from companies already operating in Argentina, such as Toyota, Marubeni, and Honda, as well as those considering future installation.

Colombia's Minister of Commerce, Industry, and Tourism, Mauricio Gómez Amín, focused on strengthening economic ties and advancing the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) between Colombia and Japan. His agenda included meetings with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and Marubeni Corporation to discuss productivity, innovation, and financing for productive projects. The visit coincides with an expanded alliance between Japan and the IDB, which aims to mobilize up to US$14 billion in financing for the Latin American and Caribbean regions.
