Japan rolls out wave of summer pop‑up shops and limited‑time product launches
In July 2026 a series of short‑term retail and cultural events opened across Japan. L’Occitane marked its 50th anniversary with a pop‑up at its Shibuya flagship that attracted almost 5,000 visitors, most of them under 30. A Hello Kitty “water‑blue” pop‑up opened in Shibuya’s Sakura Stage, offering exclusive merchandise and a hologram sticker for purchases over ¥3,300. The Pokémon brand launched a Tokyo‑gift‑palette store featuring a limited‑edition Pikachu eco‑bag. Moomin Valley celebrated “Moomin Day” on August 9‑16 with special programs, giveaways and a fireworks show. The Yokai Museum set up a pop‑up shop in Kochi’s TSUTAYA store, featuring themed goods and a live portrait‑drawing event. At the Nijigen no Mori theme park on Awaji Island, the “Niji Gacha no Mori” capsule‑toy corner was refreshed with Bandai and other products. Anime‑related releases included a two‑week streaming of the full Bobobo‑bo Bo‑bo‑bo series on YouTube and a new Haikyū!!‑branded protein powder from be LEGEND. Each pop‑up runs for a limited period, targeting fans, tourists and local shoppers during the summer season.
