Japan Meat Promotion Center to host symposium on sustainable meat supply
The Japan Meat Promotion Center will host the Domestic Meat Symposium 2026 on November 7, 2026, at the Tokyo International Forum Hall D5. The event, titled ‘To Bring Domestic Meat to the Dining Table: Thinking About Sustainable Supply and Consumption of Meat,’ aims to address challenges regarding the stable supply of meat amid rising costs for agricultural materials and food ingredients.
The symposium will be held in a hybrid format, featuring in-person attendance for 100 selected guests via lottery and a simultaneous online live stream. Keynote speaker Masami Ito, a professor at Asia University, will lead the first session. The second session will consist of a panel discussion moderated by announcer Eiko Takada, featuring guest Rie Kuwabata alongside experts from JA Zen-Noh Meat Foods, the National Liaison Council of Consumer Organizations, the University of Tokyo, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
Applications for in-person attendance must be submitted by October 20, 2026, while online registration closes on November 5, 2026. Participants who complete a survey will be eligible for a lottery to win Fukushima Wagyu beef valued at approximately 10,000 yen.
