Japan Pension Service issues benefit and registration notices
The Japan Pension Service is issuing various documents to pensioners, including requests for the Pensioner Support Benefit and intent confirmation forms for public account registration.
The Pensioner Support Benefit is an additional payment for individuals whose public pension and other income fall below specific thresholds. For those who may have discarded their benefit request forms due to fraud concerns, the Japan Pension Service notes that procedures can still be completed by downloading A4-style forms from their official website or visiting a pension office.
Additionally, pensioners aged 65 and older as of April 15, 2026, are receiving intent confirmation forms regarding the registration of public account receiving details via registered mail. If a non-consent form is not returned within 45 days, consent is assumed, and the pension transfer account will be automatically registered.
Regarding pension amounts, for the 2026 fiscal year, the National Pension is set for a 1.9% increase, while the Employees' Pension is set for a 2.0% increase. The standard monthly amount for the Pensioner Support Benefit is approximately 5,620 yen as of October 2026, though actual amounts vary based on contribution history.
