Japan reports attempted murders in Kagoshima and Hakodate

A 44‑year‑old Vietnamese national, Chan Van Chu Lin, was arrested in Kagoshima after allegedly stabbing a male coworker with a knife‑like object, causing injuries that required about two weeks to heal. Police say the suspect was drinking at the time and partially denied using a weapon.

In Hakodate, a 41‑year‑old unemployed man was caught on the scene after he thrust a mechanical pencil into the throat of a 16‑year‑old high‑school girl in a store. The girl sustained a minor cut and survived. The attacker had no prior connection to the victim and was taken into custody without resistance. Both incidents are being investigated as attempted murder cases.
