Japan reports bear sightings in Niigata and Hokkaido

A bear about 1.2 metres long was sighted on the grounds of a company in Sanjō City, Niigata Prefecture. Police received a report from an employee and have issued warnings and increased patrols around the area, which is mixed with factories and homes.

In Shinkannon Town, Hokkaido, a camera installed in a park captured an adult bear after feces were found two weeks earlier. Town officials reported the footage to police, who are now conducting patrols. No injuries have been reported in either location.
